Work to begin on new homes at Heston's Convent Way estate

Work is set to begin on a £7.5 million development in Heston as part of plans to create 1,000 new 'affordable' homes across the borough.

Hounslow Homes, which manages the council's social housing, last week agreed a £29m deal with developers Lovell and United House/A2DHG for four projects.

Construction is due to begin later this this month at Convent Way, in Heston, on 49 homes, including 15 affordable rented and four shared ownership houses. The first properties are due to be completed late next year.
Builders are set to descend on Beavers Lane, in Hounslow West, where 190 homes will be created, including 64 affordable rented and 30 shared-ownership properties, during October.
Discussions are still ongoing about plans to develop six small sites in Heston, including the Brabazon Road estate, but work is expected to begin next summer.

Residents are being consulted about the proposals, with the Passingham House site at Heston Farm estate the first in line for development.

There are also plans to replace rundown blocks and regenerate a disused park at Manor Lane estate in Feltham. However, talks are at an early stage and there is no estimated start date for this work.

Councillor Jon Hardy, lead member for housing, said: "We have a great shortage of affordable family-sized homes in Hounslow and while this move will not eradicate that problem, it is an enormous step in the right direction.

"By signing this agreement, Hounslow shows its continued commitment to providing affordable housing to local people one way or another."
