Hope for Hermitage

Metal sheets have finally been restored to the roof of Heston's Grade II-listed Hermitage following a long stand-off between council chiefs and the building's owner.

The 15th-century thatched cottage in Upper Sutton Lane has been gradually decaying since being ravaged by a fire in 2003.Hermitage.jpg

St Lawrence Primary School in Feltham triumphed at the huge sports day, involving youngsters from 49 primary schools.

Leaflets will be sent out to thousands of households as part of the 'Keep Warm, Keep Well' scheme.

Mum winning fireworks battle

A mum-of-four's petition to curb firework usage during the Diwali period has had a positive impact upon inconsiderate firework users.

Council bosses are urging more people to join the battle against Heathrow expansion, claiming three quarters of Hounslow's residents could belong to 'minority groups'.

Cllr Barbara Reid, who is spearheading the council campaign against airport expansion, says under government guidelines up to 75 per cent of local people could be eligible for inclusion in a last-minute Equalities Impact Assessment survey.
