A cycling legend who spent most of his life in Heston died on Saturday.

Chas Messenger, who managed two British world champions and wrote several books on the sport, passed away aged 94 after a long period of ill health.

People with multiple sclerosis (MS) will benefit from new facilities due to be officially opened next week.

Hounslow Mayor Genevieve Hibbs will cut the ribbon at Hounslow MS Society's newly extended headquarters in New Heston Road, Heston, on Monday at midday.

There were cheers all round as the founder of Cobra beer presented awards to six youngsters from Heston Cadets.

Cadet Sergeant Major Adam Dickson, of St Dunstan's Road, Hounslow, and Cadet Corporal Brijinder Nijjar, of Nestles Avenue, Hayes, both received Deputy Lord Lieutenant Awards - only 80 of which are given out across Hounslow each year.

Youngsters at Springwell Junior School have created stained glass artwork to light up their classrooms.

Artist Christy Avraam visited the school in Vicarage Farm Road, Heston, last month to show pupils how to make the eye-catching designs.

Drama groups brought the stark realities of knife and gun crime home to students at Heston Community School last Monday.

More than 200 youngsters at the school in Heston Road, Heston, took part in role plays highlighting the dangers they face on our streets.

Heston residents have won an early victory in their battle to prevent scores of new homes being built on playing fields across their estate.

Planners have gone back to the drawing board after early proposals for 122 homes on Brabazon Road Estate met with a furious response.
